Officer Bartholomew J. Coen, a policeman of the 20th and Federal Street Station, died in St. Agnes Hospital from injuries he received while he was rushing the victim of another accident to the hospital.
Policeman Coen was 33 years old and lived at 1409 South Ringgold Street. A man was struck by an automobile and he went to help the painfully injured person. Coen commandeered a passing automobile to transport the injured man to the hospital the car was struck by a trolley car near the hospital. Coen insisted on continuing with the injured man in spite of his own injuries.
